Aslan, You're Bigger

The movie is wonderful, but the book is always better

We all got back together to watch the second movie of Narnia tonight, Prince Caspian. I love the movie and I think it was done very well, but the book is always better.

My favorite line in the book was:

“Aslan" said Lucy "you're bigger".

"That is because you are older, little one" answered He.

"Not because you are?"

"I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger.

They don’t say it quite the same in the movie, but I know it so well, my mind just puts it in any way. I love that in the movie they do make Aslan bigger than He was the last time the children were there in Narnia. I still remember the first time I read that conversation between Lucy and Aslan. It so touched my heart because it has been so true in my own life. As a little girl, I only knew Jesus as my friend and comforter. But, every year I grow, I find Him bigger! As I grow in wisdom and knowledge, I discover greater depths of His character. It is not that He is getting bigger, It is that I am seeing HIm a little more clearly. Little by little, I am finding out how big He truly is. I also know that He is so much bigger than what I still see. So much bigger than I can imagine. I will never get to the end of knowing or understanding God. I will never get to the end of His love for me. The longer I walk with God the more I realize I will never comprehend the vastness of our Creator. Not only has my perspective of God grown, but my love for Him has grown past what I thought possible as a young girl. Knowing how little I understand, gives me such security. I feel so safe in His hands. I don’t have to grasp for answers, because he has them all. In returning to Him and rest I shall be saved, in quietness and trust, shall be my strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
