Love alleviates fear and I have had a taste of His perfect love filling me to overflowing, and I want more.

June 30

The more I know God the more I love Him, the more I trust Him. He is taking me on a journey of discovery. I am discovering more about myself and more about Him. The bible tells us He is all we need. We know this to be true, but do we really believe it? Too often in my life, I have needed God and…. God and the love of my children. God and the love of my mother. God and…. There was a season when one of my children choose not to love me. It was devastating. Thankfully it didn’t last long, but I learned that God was more than enough. When my mom died, my heart broke. No one loved me as my mom did. God healed my heart and showed me that as much as my mom loved me, He loved me more.

I always understood that truth, now I live it. So now God is teaching me how to receive even more of His love. It is easy to receive the love from people who are here. Living, breathing, human beings that can hug you and hold you, tell you they love you. They can spend time with you and care for you. They can show up with just the right gift at the right time. People are tangible, we can see them, hear them, touch them, and even smell them. And we need this. But, I think at some time, we have all wished God could be more like that. The problem is, people may be tangible, but they are fallible. People can, and will let us down. God on the other hand is perfect, and His love for us is perfect. We just need to learn how to see it and feel it more.

The more I am filled with the love of God, the more satisfied and secure I feel. There is a calm and contentment that is hard to explain. His love displaces all fear and with fear evicted, I am not shaken. Filled with His love I can love more fully. I don’t hold back.

I choose to trust God, not man. I want to be so filled with His love that nothing else matters. I have had a taste from this fountain and I am hungry for more. I am my beloved and my beloved is mine.

2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

1 John 4:16-19 NASB

We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us.
