I want to be like a sponge and I want to be so filled with Jesus that I leak Him.

June 9

I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, filled to overflowing. It is part of what I would pray over my children when I tucked them in at night. Being filled with the holy spirit gives me wisdom, peace, love, and so much more. I am a better person when I am filled with Jesus. He guides me. His love flows from me to others. I am stronger, kinder, and wiser. I have thought of it like a sponge. A sponge that is dry is pretty useless. The purpose of a sponge is to clean, if it is hard and dry, it cannot be used for its intended purpose. But a sponge, full of water, can. It is soft and pliable, ready to clean. I want to be like a sponge and I want to be so filled with Jesus that I leak Him. As I come into contact with people I want to leak Jesus on them. I think of Peter

“they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and pallets, so that when Peter came by at least his shadow might fall on any one of them.” Acts 5:15 Peter leaked Jesus everywhere he went. People believed that if his shadow passed over them they could be healed. Their lives could be changed forever. My heavenly Father showed me that If I want to be like Peter I need to put this sponge, my life into His hands. It is in God’s hands that I am most effective. A wet sponge sitting on a counter or in a sink accomplishes nothing. In the hands of the caretaker, a sponge can do the job. My life, in my creator’s hands, can achieve mighty things.
