The path to becoming the person I want to be is not always easy.

January 27

My grand-daughter said today that she would love a world with no school. She was quite distraught over some things she had done wrong. I reminded her that a world with no school would be tragic. I showed her pictures of third world countries where school is rare. None of us would say that is better. But learning and growing is hard work and takes time. Later in the day, God showed me that I can be like that. Sometimes I want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I want the results without the struggle. I understand her longing to just want to have fun, to do the easy stuff. My idea of good, is smooth sailing, peaceful relationships, blissful activities and no trouble. I want all to be well in the world. God tends to do the most powerful work in our lives during our greatest difficulties, our deepest heartaches. The path to becoming the person I want to be is not always easy. I need to follow HIm. I need to trust Him. Just like my grand-daughter needs to trust me, I need to trust Him.
