Six months ago, I was using a pole digger in the yard to transplant my butterfly bush. Between the hard clay, too many roots, and rocks leftover from the riverbed that used to be where my house is now, I ended up with two rotator cuff injuries. Several months of physical therapy and I was almost fully recovered… then came Christmas. The simplest way to say this is honestly, I WAY overdid it. Too many decorations. Too many homemade gifts. Too many events. The result… my arms are a mess again. Today my wonderful kids all got together and helped me to pack up all of my Christmas decorations, which is no small project. Christmas trees, nativity, village, elves, Santa’s and so much more. They worked hard carefully packing up all my bins and taking them downstairs and placing it all on the shelves until next year. I hated asking for help, but I knew I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t risk further injury. They were all so kind and loving, making sure I didn’t do too much, making sure I didn’t make things worse. I felt rescued. I am used to taking care of everyone, managing life, and all the little details. I rarely ask for help, but I am always offering it and I love to be a blessing for others. So, God turned the tables on me. It was really nice to be on the receiving end of the blessing. God reminded me today that I don’t have to be superwoman and do it all on my own. He reminded me I can ask for help. He made me feel so loved and cared for. He reminded me that I am blessed and highly favored. I saw God today in my children.
