My youngest daughter can sometimes suffer from panic attacks and anxiety. She's doing much better, but every once in awhile, one will sneak up on her. Last night, when I went up to her room to say her prayers, she was visibly shaken. She didn't really know why she was struggling the way she was, and honestly, the reason doesn't really matter. I realized there was nothing she needed to talk out. There was no logic or anything I could say to help make her feel better. I simply started to pray. I was laying down beside her in her bed. I was holding her hand and lying really close. I could feel the tension in her body, and I could feel her heart beating. I simply called out to our Father in heaven and asked Him to wash peace over her, to take away the anxiety and the panic. I asked Him to fill her with His Holy Spirit. Honestly, I don't remember all that I prayed, I simply poured out my heart to my Father in heaven. And as I prayed, I felt her hand relax, I felt her body relax, and I could feel her heart rate slow down. In just a few minutes God answered, and she was ready to go to sleep. I asked her if she wanted me to stay with her for a little bit longer, I just wanted to make sure she was okay. She told me it was all right, I could go. She just wanted to sleep now. I'm so grateful for a God who answers prayer. I'm so grateful for our God who doesn't want to leave us with our anxiety or our burdens. I know that one day my sweet girl will be completely healed of this. Until then, I'm just grateful that tonight, she could sleep in peace.
