Her children rise up and bless her

May 10
Today is Mother's Day. As a young mother, I would often hear Proverbs 31:28-29
Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying: “Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all.”
When I would read that verse or hear someone quote it I would hope that one day as my children grew that this would be true for me. As my children were growing up I prayed with them every night. I still do with my youngest daughter. Part of that prayer was that God would help me to be the best mom I could be for that child. I prayed that God would fill them with His Holy Spirit, and Knit their hearts together with His. I prayed that he would give them the heart of David and the wisdom of Soloman. I prayed he would send His angels to watch over them and so much more. Today as I look back over the day, I can see how He answered that prayer. And I can see how He is still answering it now. Today, each of my children rose up and blessed me. Each one did something to make the day special for me. I received flowers, homemade chocolate-covered strawberries, boba tea and a peaceful walk around the lake, watching families of geese and ducks take care of their babies. It was splendid. Each one of my children and my husband let me know how much they love me, and that they are proud that I am their's. They wanted to spend the day with me. They even watched a sappy Christian movie with me. We had a movie night with popcorn, snacks, and ice cream. I am blessed beyond measure. My job as a mother will never be over. It just looks really different. A lot more praying. A lot more listening. And a lot less teaching.
