God doesn't expect us to be something we're not. Just like I didn’t expect my toddlers to be able to do the things an adult can do, or to understand the world the way an adult can.

I met God today while I was having my quiet time. I was reading in Genesis about Abram. It occurred to me how much Abram had grown in his walk with God over His lifetime. He started out fairly weak. He was unwilling to negotiate with Lot, and have a conversation about who would take what part of the land, so he's simply let Lot take what appeared to be the best land. He didn't protect Sarah when they were traveling through a foreign land and allowed the king to think she was just his sister. He didn’t learn from his mistake and made the same mistake a second time. But God never left Abraham. He continued to work with him, he continued to show him the way, and slowly Abraham grew into the man that God intended. God doesn't expect us to be something we're not. Just like I didn’t expect my toddlers to be able to do the things an adult can do, or to understand the world the way an adult can. I was patient as their minds expanded and their bodies grew. Our Father gives us time to grow too. He is not in a rush. He reminded me that I'm not done yet. And it's okay.! He didn't expect anything different from me, and he's not disappointed in me. He simply loves me. As long as I am willing, He will continue to guide me and teach me. I am here Lord and your servant is willing.
