Like the wind, it is hard to see the Holy Spirit, but you most certainly can see the effects.

Yesterday I had such a clear picture of Jesus and Abba Father. I had wanted the same kind of image of the Holy Spirit but none came. I left my time of prayer simply asking God to one day give me a visual representation of the Holy Spirit. Today as I open my book on Centering Prayer the focus is on the Holy Spirit. I just smile. God is always so faithful. What I came to understand in my time of prayer, was that it is much harder to have a concrete picture of the Holy Spirit. Some of the ways the Spirit is described is as a rushing wind, a burning flame, and the breath of life. You don't see the wind but, you see the effects of it, like trees swaying and leafs blowing. You can see a flame burning, but it is hard to see the warmth it provides. If you stay close the heat will penetrate to your very bones. You don't see a breath unless it's cold, and then it is only when you exhale, but it keeps you alive as your breath delivers oxygen through your lungs and then to the rest of your body. The Holy Spirit is very similar, you are more likely to experience the effects of the Spirit than see Him. When the Holy Spirit is like a rushing wind we see revival, Lives are changed. Miracles happen. the landscape of people's lives can be changed just like a hurricane can change the landscape when it comes onshore. When the love of God and healing truth is revealed, the warmth of the Holy Spirit invades every cell of your body. It can be like slipping into a hot tub. You can feel the warmth in every cell. It will melt a heart of stone. The breath of God breaths life into every person who has ever lived, starting with Adam and Eve all the way to you and me. I may never have an image of the Holy Spirit like I have an image of Father God and Jesus, but I do have a greater understanding. Holy Spirit lives in us. He doesn't take over, but if we will let Him, He will invade every part of us. Like oxygen being delivered to every cell in your body giving life. Or being immersed in a hot bath and letting the warmth penetrate all your muscles. On the outside, it looks like nothing has changed, but inside you are warm and full of life.
