I love the Ephesians’ prayer. I started praying a version of this over my husband, then my children over 15 years ago. Over the years I have slowly made it my own. Today God reminded me of the power this prayer has, and how much I love it. So, I thought I would share it with you. For many years I prayed this prayer for my friends and family almost daily. One day I thought, I wish someone would pray this stuff for me. This is really powerful. God simply said You can add your name to the list you know. So I did. In each blank space, I say the names of the people I am praying for. Now, I include myself. When I pray, the blank space sounds like this; my husband Michael, myself, and my children, Amber-Rose, Brandon, Andrew, & Sarah. Some days I add other family members to the list. Some days I add the names of friends. I hope you enjoy praying this prayer for the people you love as much as I have.
I do not cease to give thanks for ______ while I pray that you the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of you Lord. I pray that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened so that we will know what is the hope of Your calling on our lives. Reveal to us the glorious riches You are preparing as our inheritance. Lord may we never under-estimate the surpassing greatness of Your power toward each of us who believes. We can put our hope in this Lord because it is in harmony with Your ability, authority, and power. It is for this reason Father, that every family in heaven and on earth derives its name from you, and that I bow my knees before you. Please grant ________ according to the riches of your glory, to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in the inner man, so that you Christ may dwell in ________ heart through faith; and that each of us will be rooted and grounded in that love, and may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge, that ________ may be filled up to all the fullness of you God. Now, Lord you have promised in your word to do far more abundantly above and beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. Lord, breathe new life into ________so that this is possible. Father, you are the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen
Father, I ask that you would bring our Hearts to life. May we fall in love with Your word, and obey it. For Your word is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105)
May ________ follow all Your commands. May the fruit of the Spirit be manifested in our life. That we would love and serve others, have faith instead of doubt.
Lord cover ________ with the full armor of God; that we will be equipped with the knowledge of Truth, Lord may we put on the helmet of salvation that we may know that we are yours, the breastplate of righteousness which covers each of us and makes us holy, the sword of the Spirit so we may do battle against the enemy, the shoes of the gospel of peace to walk in the way that we should go. In addition to all this may we take up the shield of faith with which ________ will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
(In the Blank put your name and any family or friends you would like to include)
