One of my favorite things to do is create. I have always been grateful for the gift of creativity that God gave to me. The ability to come up with an idea and bring it to reality. As I have been designing my kitchen, I came up with an idea for my backsplash. I wanted a small hand-painted tile mural behind the cooktop. I wanted something simple with white tile and a blue design. My kitchen will have a French country feel, so I thought something like that would be beautiful. I spent hours looking online for options. I couldn’t find anything I liked or could afford. One day, as I searched the internet, God reminded me that I had my mom’s kiln and china paints. Maybe I could create something on my own. So I looked for something I could copy; still, I could find nothing. I had an idea to use some stencils. But, I needed a vision for the center of the picture. As I was falling asleep one night, God inspired me to use scripture. After several days and much prayer, I finally landed on, Be still and know I am God, Psalm 46:10. I would surround it with flowers and a few birds.

I pulled out my mom’s china paints, ordered a few stencils, and went to work. I finished it today and did the first firing. It is more beautiful than I thought it would be and it is everything I wanted. I only wish my mom were here to see the finished product. I can’t wait to get it up on the wall and enjoy it as I cook. Thank you, Jesus, for the gifts you have given me and the inspiration you provided. I couldn’t have done it without you!
