He didn't have to make everything so beautiful, but He did.

May 11
I was back out in my garden today, trying to wrap up the last details. I raked out the last of the rubble, planted all my bulbs, and put down a layer of topsoil. I was out there all afternoon into the early evening. Working in clay makes everything a little harder and takes a little longer, but I loved it. The weather was perfect, a beautifully cool day to be in the garden. I have always dreamed of having a garden like this. Living in Florida for so many years, I couldn't do it. The flowers I wanted would not grow there. It was too hot, I was in the wrong planting zone. Now I can have all the flowers I want. It has taken a while, lots of trial and error, but it is so worth it! One of the things that amaze me about God's creation, is the variety. Not just that there are so many different flowers, or trees, or plants, but that so many different varieties within the same species. I bought two balloon flowers last year at the end of the summer. I bought one this year and after pulling out the tags from last year I realize they are different. The balloon flowers look the same but the size of the adult plant is different. Then I find out there are a least ten varieties of Balloon flowers, which are in the family of Bellflower. The Bellflower family consists of 84 genera and about 2,400 species. God did not need to make such an overwhelmingly vast cornucopia of flowers, plants, and trees. I think one of the reasons he did is simply to bless us with beauty. he made a home for us that is filled with beauty. I also think He was just having fun. it is so satisfying to give life to a new idea. I can just imagine what it was like to watch Him create...
Let's make one like this, and oh, how about this color and that one too! Oh, and how about this, a little longer, a little fatter, a little brighter, a little smaller, a little bigger.
I just imagine all the fun He had in creating such amazing, stunning little masterpieces. And now I get a few of them in my garden. Thank you, Abba.
