When truth is revealed and forgiveness bestowed, we are on the path to freedom

May 18

When we finished the Cleansing Stream class this year, because we did not have the retreat, we offered personal prayer times. Today I was privileged to be a part of one. Jesus said He came to set the captives free. This is what he was talking about. We can be taken captive by so many things in his word. We can become slaves to fear, and anxiety. We can become slaves to our jobs. Our lifestyles can put us in bondage. We can be captivated by wealth and beauty; neither one of these things are bad, but in the wrong place in our hearts, they can be destructive. We have all seen it. A girl so desperate for beauty, she starves herself to death. A man so consumed with wealth, he doesn't have time for his family. A life so busy in service to others we don't have time to just be with God. We all have broken and wounded places in our hearts. You cannot live in this broken world without some pain and suffering. Often, when the hurt comes in as a child it opens the door to the Father of Lies. He can start to operate in our lives causing even more damage and brokenness. When truth is revealed and forgiveness bestowed, we can start to close these doors. The weight of the world that we are carrying is lifted. The scales on our eyes are gone. The chains are broken and we are set free. I personally have received much of this healing and freedom, and today I watched as another sister in Christ received much of hers.
