A Small Miracle for Me

Wednesday night, after our bible study ended, the class prayed for my hand. It has been almost six weeks since I injured it. The finger I fractured can barely move, and my whole hand is still swollen. Two weeks ago, I had a second x-ray done, and the finger has yet to heal. It was my precious daughter's idea to ask for prayer, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was announced that we were praying for me.
After we prayed, I talked to another woman in the class who told me of an excellent orthopedic hand Doctor. I called the next day, and today I went to see Him. The first thing the doctor did was take a new x-ray. When the doctor came in, he informed me that I do not have a fracture or a break. He told me I had most likely sprained the fingers in my hand. When asked him if my finger had healed, he informed me that they could not see any evidence of a fracture. I told him I have two x-rays taken two weeks apart that show a fracture that had not healed. He went out into the hall and talked to another doctor, and they both looked at my x-ray. The doctor's couldn't find any trace of a fracture.
Here is where I saw God at work. When a bone breaks, if the fracture is small, it can be hard to be seen on an x-ray. The hairline fracture will show up easier when the bone has healed. The calcium that has built up to heal the fracture will look like a white line. Neither doctor could find the evidence of a healed fracture. I know God healed it. My hand is still stiff and sore, but I will be fully recovered with a little physical therapy and time. Both doctors examined my hand and explained to me what had happened when I injured my fingers. The reason all my fingers were hurting and swollen is that I sprained them. They couldn't account for the fracture, but they told me it takes months for an injury like mine to heal fully. I can't tell you how grateful I am for their time and understanding. It may take a little more time for full healing, but I know I received a small miracle.
