I want to be like the full moon, reflecting His light so brightly that the path to Him is made clear.

The moon was stunning tonight. My son came back from a walk down to the lake and told us how beautiful the moon was. So my husband and I turned the TV off and went for a walk. At first, I thought we might have missed our opportunity to see it because there were so many clouds. But we headed down to the lake anyway. You could see the moon trying to peak out, even with the clouds completely covering the moon, you could see it shine. Slowly the clouds moved away and the brilliance of this low hanging moon was evident. The moon has no light of its own. Without the rays of the sun reflecting off of its surface, the moon would be dark. This is why there is a dark side of the moon, the sun can’t reach it. This is why you have crescent moons, the shadow of the earth won’t let the light of the sun reach the entire surface. As I looked at the moon in all its splendor I thought, we are like the moon. We don’t really have light of our own, we simply reflect the light of the Son. I don’t want to be a crescent moon, only reflecting a tiny sliver of His brilliance. I want to be like the full moon, reflecting His light so brightly that the path to Him is made clear.
