Prayers For a Bride

I never know the impact I will make when I give a prayer shawl.

August 31
I had written prayers and a letter to the bride last weekend. Somehow I had forgotten to put them, in the gift bag with her prayer shawl. Tonight I finally emailed them to her. I will give the ones I printed on card stock to her when I see her, but I really wanted her to have the prayers sooner rather than later. As I was praying about where I saw God today, a notice came across my phone that I received an email from the bride. She wrote a beautiful message to me. As I answered her message, God said it’s this.
In her message, she thanked me for all the time and prayers that I have devoted to her and her family. This revealed to her how much I love her family. It gave her hope to know that I am praying for her and her family. She told me how much she loves her prayer shawl. She has been spreading the prayer shawl over her husband and herself while she says her prayers over him and her family.
She said she knows the enemy comes after you when he’s scared and sees God working through them. Now, she just smiles because not only does she have her Bible, that she lays out open, Christian music that she plays throughout the house at night, and warrior prayers, but now she’s got an anointed prayer shawl to lay out when the enemy comes against her and her family. She said “Ha! I’d like to see him try now.”
Then she told me that she has a friend who doesn’t have a relationship with the Lord. This girl texted her and wanted to grow a relationship with Jesus. She has been praying for this girl for over 2 years. God is so good.
I knew there was spiritual warfare going on because of all the difficulties around making the prayer shawl and preparing for the wedding. I never know how a bride will respond to the gift of a prayer shawl. I just make them when He says to make one. I trust Him with the results and the timing. Maybe they won’t think to use it for years. Today, I am so filled with joy that this sweet young woman is taking full advantage of the power of God in her and her family’s life. I am filled with thankfulness that I get to be a part of her story and in some small way bless her with hope and guidance.
