We are not meant to do life alone. God created us to live in community with one another. Friends and family are not optional, they are essential. We were created to do life together. It's better together. We all need someone to talk things over with sometimes. I think this is especially true for women. Not that men don’t, because they do. But, for women, as Dr. John Gray says, “the more we talk the better we feel.” Things start to become more clear as I talk about it. I have a few really good friends that I can honestly share what is going on in my life. Friends that point me back to God. Friends that will be brutally honest with me when I need it most. Friends I can trust.

But sometimes you need a little more than just a friend. Sometimes you need the safety of a trusted counselor. Finding the right person can be hard. I don’t need a little good advice or five tips for better communication. I have plenty of great books for that. I need someone to have the discernment to see the real issue. Someone who can see the forest for the trees. I need someone who sees the spiritual battle and will help me to win. I am so grateful that God has put this person in my life. It is the perfect timing and better than I could have imagined. I feel like I have a safety net. I don’t have to do this alone. The Holy Spirit is integral to growth and change. Counseling without our Heavenly Counselor in simply not complete. Together we navigate what God is doing. Together I am discovering life, truth, and freedom.
