I don't know what I would have done if God had not intervened.

August 23

My daughter and I got back to the hotel last night after the wedding. We took quick showers and were in bed by ten. I was so tired, a little overtired, honestly. So, it took me a little longer to fall asleep then I had hoped, but eventually I did. Unfortunately, I woke up much earlier than I would have liked because I had a headache. I tried to work out some of the tension in my neck, but it just kept getting worse. I knew I was getting a migraine. I was 2 ½ hours away from home, in a hotel that I needed to check out of soon. I had to drive home. It was my only option. I took a hot shower, packed up our few things, and headed to the car. It was 10:30 when we got on the road. All I could do was pray. Under normal conditions, if I tried to push through a migraine it would simply intensify to the point of excruciating, debilitating pain, then with me throwing up and finally hiding in a dark, quiet place. I certainly didn’t want to be in the car driving if that happened and my stomach was already not good. But, I needed to get home, and I was the only one who could drive. With Google maps loaded we headed out. We each got a Starbucks refresher before we got on the main road. I was hoping the caffeine would help. It was nice to have something to sip on as we drove home, but, my stomach was so bad I had only drunk a few ounces in the 2 ½ hour drive. I know without a doubt that it was God who got me home. Never have I been able to do what happened today. Never have I been able to ignore a migraine. If it was not for God intervening on my behalf, I don’t know what I would have done. I got home and went straight to bed, so grateful to my Heavenly Father for getting me home.
