It was a perfect day for a Shower

August 1
My girlfriend’s daughter is getting married and several months ago I offered to have her bridal shower at my house. Because of COVID everything had to be postponed. Today we were able to finally celebrate this beautiful young woman and bless her with a shower. My friend came first thing this morning so we could set up and decorate. We had flowers and balloons and a beautiful table set up for the food. Her nephew, who is a chef, came to do the food. Everything looked beautiful and we finished everything up just as guests were arriving.
I have been making a wedding prayer shawl for her and unlike the last shawl, I made I could not get this one done in time. I feel at peace about it though. I am not sure why, but I do know the day she receives it is the day God ordained for her to have it. I felt so blessed to be able to be apart of this sweet day and soon her wedding. Before everyone left, we all gathered around her, laid the partially made shawl on her shoulders, and prayed and blessed her and her upcoming marriage. We invited Jesus to be at the center of this marriage and thanked Him for all He has done and will do.
When I make a bride a prayer shawl, I like to give a few books on marriage as well. I encourage the bride to read them while life is still easy. I remind them that we live in a broken world and sooner or later things will happen. I suggest they learn some of these principals and skills before any trials come. I am never sure how this will be received, so I just offer. This sweet bride loves books like me and can’t wait to read them. We talked long after all the guests left. Our spirit's connected and for me, it was the best part of the day. I am going to add a few more books to her list. I hope this is the beginning of a long relationship. She is just precious.
