Jesus tells us that he is the bread of life. Whoever comes to him will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in him will never be thirsty. Jesus doesn't ask much of us. The Bible tells us that the only work God wants from us is to believe in the one He has sent. A simple little thing, believe. And in exchange for our belief, he gives us the world. Today is the first day in almost two months that my brain has felt clear, that my thoughts are cohesive. Ever since I hurt my hand and fractured my finger, I have not been myself. Things like pain, not sleeping, my body trying to heal, prednisone, all these things have affected how my brain works. This morning was beautiful; I woke up and read my Bible and did not feel like I was in a fog. I heard His voice as I read His words to me. It was precious. I feel like I'm getting my life back. But I also want to be very careful that I don't step back into old habits, that I remember the things He's taught me. Trust him and lean not on my own understanding. My sense of worth cannot come from the things that God allows me to do. My value comes from simply believing in Jesus. That belief makes me a daughter. I am His, and he is mine.
